Message Validation, Processing, and Provisioning System
MVPS (Message Validation and Processing System) is a web-based application that enables disparate healthcare systems across the country to share collected data with the CDC. The system formats and consolidates data for ease of processing and collaboration.
Original User Interface
The Problem
The legacy MVPS platform had a confusing and inefficient user interface. There was no definitive user experience, and had unclear way-finding. Additionally, the workflow needed improvement. For example, when opening an HL7 message (the primary data source), it opened in modal (grayed out) view, so that users were unable to see other data needed to compare it with.
The Solution
A streamlined navigation with clear breadcrumbs, a branded MVPS user experience, and a better workflow for analyzing data.
Who is the user?
The average user entering data into MVPS is a public health administrative professional or epidemiologist. They work in public health departments across the country. Often times they are using legacy technology, as local public health departments typically do not have large budgets.
