Epi Info
Epi Info is a CDC application that was developed for public health practitioners and researchers. It is used by epidemiologists around the world to collect and analyze data when a disease outbreak occurs.
Original User Interface
The Problem
The software needed a user interface update. Research shows that appearance affects users’ confidence and perception of a tool. The home-screen had unnecessary graphics that distracted from the functionality of the product, and it lacked an intuitive design.

Who are the users?
Epidemiologists. Epidemiologists use this product to investigate patterns of diseases and health-related events, and perform statistical analysis on collected data.
Results
Epi Info launched the first iterative UI update with a redesigned home screen that has a focus on functionality and ease of use. The updated desktop application was released in the spring of 2016, followed later by the iOS and Android versions.
